For someone owning land around Krnovo, Nikšić is the town for building supplies, appointments and the errands that are easy to underestimate during a viewing. Šavnik is nearer, but it is a small municipal town, and for most of these jobs the road leads to Nikšić. A rural property becomes more practical when you know which jobs can be handled in town and which require a specialist visit to the land.
Health, schools and the university
The general hospital provides secondary healthcare and serves the wider area, including Šavnik and Plužine. Nikšić also has primary healthcare, pharmacies and schools. Families considering a permanent move should visit the relevant school and check the daily journey during the school year. The University of Montenegro has faculties in the town, including Philosophy and Philology.
Supplies and the vet
For maintenance work, take measurements and photographs before setting off. Okov’s store on Bulevar 13. jul is one example of a hardware supplier. Check stock before making a trip for a particular pump, fitting or fencing component, and ask about delivery when ordering bulky materials.

Ask specifically about visits to your location, routine herd work and arrangements outside normal hours. Supermarket shopping and banking can usually be combined with these trips.
Beyond errands
There is more to Nikšić than errands. Trebjesa brewery and the university are part of the town’s identity, and an afternoon can include the town center, Trebjesa hill or Krupac Lake. Ostrog Monastery is a separate outing toward Danilovgrad. Roads continue south to Podgorica and west toward Grahovo and the Bay of Kotor. Kapino Polje is an airfield used for small aircraft, pilot training and parachuting.
When comparing properties, consider the journey in both directions, including the climb home with supplies. Mountain access and utilities deserve as much attention as the distance shown on a map.
